The data displayed on Broadband Census Maps represents a culmination of our efforts at BroadbandCensus.com to release a public map of broadband carrier data since October 2007. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please e-mail us at data@broadbandcensus.com.

Methodology

Through a series of proprietary algorithms, multiple data sources available from commercial and other sources are combined with publicly-available footprint information to identify a very granular level of carrier coverage areas. The results are mapped and compared to the individual Census blocks. This method is the most accurate and complete large-scale information set available outside the confines of the individual broadband service company proprietary data-sets over a multiple state large-scale deployment area.

The broadband providers considered in the data analysis are cable companies and DSL providers. Having the ability to combine these coverage areas and compare them against the Census block layers creates a unique result set. Our data is then cross-checked against publicly-available carrier information including speed tiers and price points.

Known Issues

Browser Compatibility: People using Chrome and Internet Explorer have reported display issues. Firefox and Safari seem to work properly.

Runtime Script Error: Many people have reported experiencing a long load time. This is actually quite normal for the mapping technology we are using. We aim to resolve this in future versions, but we appreciate your patience for now.
